Momma gift guide

Momma gift guide

It’s that time of year when we mommas are scurrying around trying to create holiday magic and find those perfect gifts for our loved ones.

Oftentimes we even end up getting our own gifts to unwrap so that our kids can see us participating in the unwrapping event. According to a survey conducted by OnePoll, 65 percent of women admit to buying their own gifts for the holidays (and 73 percent buy our own birthday presents, too). Yes, I’m one of those women.

How do we know what mommas want for gifts?

I admit that it can be tough to figure out what many moms want as gifts, but after you know how to look and remember the clues left behind, it gets a lot easier to spot gift ideas for her and everyone else in your life.

First off, whenever she mentions something or somewhere she’d like to experience, add it to a list in your smartphone. Don’t avoid including something just because it’s outside of a realistic budget, as sometimes a big wish like going to Mexico could be honored by creating a Mexican-themed evening with music, food, and a show.

What do we recommend as gifts many mommas would love?

What do mommas want for gifts? If it’s something we have to plan, set-up, or clean up after, there’s a better idea. We have enough to do each day that gifts need to be extra and pleasurable, not more work or stress. The following are a few ideas we think would be winners for many mommas.

Experiences for Mommas

Sometimes the best gift isn’t wrappable. Spending relaxed time together can be a momma’s favorite gift of all. Put those screens away, and be completely in the moment with your momma to do something that she doesn’t have to do anyway.

Yes, it’s nice to bake cookies or decorate with our families, but treat us to an afternoon in a museum or gorgeous park.

Homemade luxury for Mommas

A gift doesn’t always have to be expensive. Sometimes a handmade gift can be way better than anything else. An easy way to give momma some luxury for less than $10 is with a homemade organic scrub.

Theresa’s go-to shower luxury is a simple mix of coconut oil and sugar. The sugar-coconut mix gently smoothes and moisturizes skin simultaneously.

How to make this coconut scrub? Just mix three parts coconut oil to one part sugar. Then put the mix in a pretty container with a handmade note to momma.

Books for Mommas

It all started when….

I began teaching children to dance. The joy and happiness it brought to their eyes, how their body language changed. I knew instantly I was watching their hearts speak. It was then I knew my purpose in this life was bigger than me. Bigger than teaching dance. When people surrender the weight carried on their shoulders, surrender feeling offended by others’ life choices and implement an attainable roadmap to reach high for their own goals, amazing fruit blossoms in all directions in your path.

Jewelry for Mommas

If your momma (or grandma) is the sentimental type and treasures little notes from the little ones, consider a bracelet made from your handwriting. You write a meaningful note, and the Etsy shop CaitlynMinimalist makes it into a rose gold, sterling silver, or 18K gold bracelet. Check out the handwritten bracelets here.

Beauty Care for Mommas

If your momma has thick hair, Aubrey recommends the Revlon hair blow dryer brush. It cuts her blow dry time in half, a time savings that everyone can love. Learn more about the Revlon hair blow dryer brush here.

Wellness for Mommas

Essential oils are essential to our everyday lives. We use them to promote healing, to create a calm and happy vibe, we use them to clean, and we use them to make our homes and cars smell delicious. We recommend a starter pack like the Young Living Haven Starter Bundle for a first-time user, as there’s a variety of popular oils and a diffuser included. Learn more about essential oils here.

Food for Mommas

Aubrey’s favorite go-to for meals, the Spoonful of Comfort company offers vegan meals, pies, soups, care packages, and holiday packages that can be easy ways to get a meal on the table without involving moms. Gluten-free is available, but Kosher is not available yet. Deliveries take up to 3 days. Learn more about Spoonful of Comfort here.
